Fun Facts!

The other night it was brought to my attention that Jillian had an amazing wedding program for her special day. I’ve been in the dark about this for the past four months because I, like a jerk, only showed up for the reception and missed her wedding ceremony. While meeting with our Chicago bride on Sunday, Jillian pulls out this ten-page (perhaps a small exaggeration) booklet from her portfolio that I’d never seen before. Aside from listing the names of the bridal party, and the readings and music from the ceremony, I found some “fun facts!” at the bottom of each page.

What are “fun facts!”, you say? Well, they’re a great way to personalize an otherwise boring piece of wedding paper. For instance, by reading Jillian’s wedding program, I found out that Tim was a talented cello player as a 7th grader (I write this without having the program in front of me). I don’t, however, remember what music was played while the happy couple walked down the aisle. Why not, you say? Because people get married every day, and unfortunately Bach, Mozart, and some other very talented composers, are dead and can no longer write the wedding marches that we have come to love and march to. So I’ve heard that song at weddings before and I don’t just associate it with Jillian’s September nuptials.

But…not everyone marries Tim Sullivan, the talented young cello prodigy, and so I, as a guest, will remember that detail, which in turn will remind me how beautiful Jillian looked, and how much fun I had on that dance floor with the 60 year-old and his loose hips! And this was one of several fun facts, so imagine all the memories that are stirring in my head as I type.

I don’t know that this post is doing the “fun facts!” justice, but I bet you’ll rethink the personalization of your wedding, and your wedding details when you come see Jillian’s portfolio.
