Wedding Board - A Little Glamour in Boston

This is my first post on our new blog! I have always been a fan of wedding and inspiration boards. It’s actually something I have been doing since art school. When I meet with a bride, or any client whose celebration I’m working on, I create inspiration boards in my head. From our very first meeting I ask a million questions and take a ton of notes until I can envision the day; sometimes, even before the client can. So this is my first attempt at a wedding board, and it’s of my very own wedding! These photos were all shot by Douglas Depres : he and his assistant did an amazing job!

And now for some details… My husband and I were hitched in the Boston Public Garden. We wanted a downtown wedding, and it doesn’t get more downtown than that! I wore an Amsale gown that I purchased at Vows in Newton, MA. I had Marilyn style Benjamin Adams rhinestone-studded shoes. When I purchased them the women at the store said that after the wedding I could dye them black and wear them again and again; I just might! The girls all wore Jim Hjelm gowns, each in their own style and color. Kristy wore silver, Stephanie gold, and Nicole champagne. I purchased a bunch of extra fabric when I ordered the dresses, then I had custom ties made for the groomsmen. We all carried just a few white Dahlias.

As for the reception, it was in Boston’s North End. We greeted our guests with champagne which had a custom flag in each glass. Each flag had the guest’s name and table number. When guests arrived at their table each menu was personalized and neatly tucked into a white napkin that sat on top of a silver charger (more photos to come). We had all white linens and silver chiavari chairs. Custom white and silver cocktail napkins read “eat. drink. and be married.” For the centerpieces we had Eiffel Tower vases full of white feathers. And instead of a cake we opted for his-and-her cupcakes from the cutest new bakery on Mass. Ave. called Sweet!

Now I am ready to get started on a second board with all the stationary and paper goods I created for our wedding. This is one aspect of the wedding where it’s fair to say I got a little carried away. But it’s what I do, so how couldn’t I?

I hope this blog allows us to share many more weddings and special moments of the people we are lucky enough with which to work. I am currently collecting photos from two weddings that just passed with some great details we created for them. Keep checking back!
