A Rare Treat

Brendan, Megan, Tim, and Jillian at the four Seasons
Last night Jillian and myself, along with our husbands, met up at the Four Season’s bar, Aujourd’hui. On Friday nights they have a “Bubbly Bar” from 5:30-7pm, where you can get glasses of champagne for $10 each. You also get free appetizers. At our table we had a bowl of popcorn with grated cheese and dark truffles! Yum! I found out that Jillian’s husband, Tim, has extensive knowledge on truffles. I’m still not sure that I believe him about the pigs and dogs that are trained to dig these things up out of the ground. A word to the wise: after trying each type of champagne on the list, take the elevator back down to the lobby, and not the stairs. Also wear flats or wedges to this outing, not the highest heels that you own. Trust me on this one!

Anyway, because I enjoyed the “Bubbly Bar” so much, I was unable to attend the Mud Flat Studio’s: “Open Studio & Pottery Sale” in east Somerville. Last night was their opening reception. I’ll be sure to get there as the show is going on until December 14th. I’m a big fan of Jeanne Garrison who has her pottery in the show (and up for sale). She is an Art and Drama teacher who works with teenagers suffering from emotional and/or psychiatric illnesses. I’ve seen the amazing “work” she has pulled from these kids, both on the wall/shelf and on the stage, and I can’t wait to see her own art. I recommend that if anyone is looking for a unique and personalized holiday gift that they check out the Mud Flat Studio’s show. Or if you’re just looking for inspiration to get out and do your own art, it would be worth your while to stop by.

The pigs and dogs find the truffles. They don’t dig them up! Haha
