Holiday Cards/ Save-the-Dates
Jillian and I started working with a great couple, Victoria and John, about three weeks ago. I’ve only met Victoria, but I have great admiration for her and her fiance because they work with kids who struggle with Autism. I believe their engagement happened by way of text message. They were in separate rooms of the same apartment which makes the story super-cute. They’re getting married in July at a country club in Hudson, Massachusetts.
As a way of making their guests aware of the wedding date, Victoria asked J.Sullivan Design to create a holiday card/save-the-date. I’m all about two birds with one stone, and I think the holiday save-the-date is ingenious, not to mention very “green”! Also clever is the color scheme that Victoria picked out for her wedding: icy blue, silver and gold lend themselves to both winter and summer themes. My favorite image that Jillian created for this card was the country club covered in snow. I like the idea that the save-the-dates present guests with an image that they will recognize once they get to the wedding. The fact that the colors and the images on the card transcend both seasons and religions speaks to the timelessness and encompassing nature of this event. Again, I’m a fan of these people because of the amazing work that they do, so I may be a bit biased, but I really don’t think you can beat the holiday cards/save-the-dates.

And yesterday, I brought up female business owners. The woman who I mentioned in my last blog, has co-owned Topaz with her best friend for the past 8 years. She told me that at her jewelry store, recently moved to Porter Square, they have great gifts for bridesmaids. If there’s time, I’ll visit the place this weekend and let you know what I think of the place.
And also, I need to include this small “props”. It’s actually rather huge. I just got my wedding album today. It was put together with amazing care-not only the pictures themselves show a great eye for human emotions and human relationships, but the placement of the pictures in the album are so carefully and lovingly done. Brendan and I are afraid to touch the album, it’s so precious. Not precious as in fragile, but precious as incredibly real. April and Glenn Livermore are a married couple who own their own wedding photography business. They work incredibly well together. I hardly noticed them at my wedding, they play it so cool. I need to stop blogging, so I can write and thank them. But I wanted you to know that if you’re planning a summer wedding, in which it may make sense to send save-the-dates around the holidays, you should send a holiday card/save-the-date. Email me, and I’ll get Jillian to whip up some great ones for you. And also, if you need a photographer for your summer wedding, then hear my great praises of Glenn Livermore Photography.
